Bamboo possesses incredibly strong tension and a striking look, making it a great choice for backing your medieval bow. The 71" Inch Flattened Bamboo Backing Strip is an ideal option for backing traditional bows with a grain that is less than perfect. These planed bamboo strips are heat-tempered in a commercial, convection-style heatbox to allow the bamboo to be evenly heated and to draw out any moisture. This heating process ensures maximum hardness for performance and no shrinking or convex or concave curving of the strip during DIY bow making. As this bamboo is natural, it may have slight imperfections on the face side, which can be lightly sanded out. Please note that bamboo nodes should never be sanded through. This bamboo backing is planed flat and comes ready to glue. Epoxy or Titebond glue is recommended.
